This is rather disappointing, though.from Aramatheydidnt.
To be frank, I wouldn't say I'm surprised by the numbers, I would say I'm disappointed. What's the japan music industry becoming like. Yeah I love Arashi, but this year, it's quite disappointing. They gave me the feeling that they are trying to beat AKB48 in terms of sales by releasing 6 singles in a year. To me, I think "Love Rainbow" and "Dear Snow" are plain disappointing. It may sound great at first, but you slowly lose interest in these songs. They probably sold well because they had drama/movie tie-in. And the PV? Johnny should seriously spend a bit more money on it. "Troublemaker" and "Monster" are my favourite singles in 2010. Both the A-side and B-side are good. And the tune is really unique, catchy. Definitely their best singles of the year. I thought "To be Free" was really a good song!! But it was wayyyyyyyyy too underrated. It did not have B-sides and no drama/movie tie-in. So, it's like repeating what happened to "Everything" last year. "Hatenai Sora" was good! I thought the A-side was too "safe. In other words, average. But I really liked the lyrics. The B-side of "Hatenai Sora" was soooooo outstanding. "Story" was great, loved the tune! "Ano Hi no Merry Christmas" was good too, a very cute song :D Well... as for albums, I would say "Boku no Miteiru Fuukei" was a good album. Generally the songs are good. Very summer-ish. Wheeee~ And my favourite song in the album is "Summer Splash". Clean and Refreshing. Haha, I didn't really HATE any of the songs, so I guess it's really good, for a studio album. BUT "TIME" ALBUM IS STILL THE BEST. AND ZOMG, "ALL THE BEST" IS STILL CHARTING!? Placed at #19, sold a total of 342,743 copies this year. AKB48, don't wish to comment on them. You know I'm going to say nasty stuffs so... yeah. EXILE did not do well this year. D: I thought they would have a high ranking in albums, because they always do well in albums. But it's okay. They came in 4th for "Artists Total Sales", which is really good. And number 1... needless to say, you know the answer. Tohoshinki came in 2nd!! They beat AKB48, surprisingly. I mean, AKB48 is like, BOOMZ. Uh, anyway congrats! :D I love Arashi, but I don't wish for them to get overrated. I liked the way they are in the past few years. 10th year anniversary... really working hard for their success. Arashi is not a band that shot up all of a sudden, they worked really hard for the success they have today, step by step. I was especially touched when Nino said they regarded every fan as the 6th member of Arashi. I saw the real Arashi. But this year, I couldn't really feel the passion in them for the second part of the year. They are just releasing singles for the sake of releasing. It's simply tiring them out. Perhaps they should really go for a break(hiatus or something) and make a comeback. Or maybe releasing lesser singles in a year. Afterall, music is about passion and interest, not business. YES GO ARASHI, I'LL SUPPORT YOU FOREVER! :D - From the 6th member of Arashi. |
